Our Mission
Within the last decade, the state of California has been ravaged by the largest, most destructive, and deadliest wildfires in California history. Wildfires have devastated millions of acres of land, destroying thousands of homes, and killing hundreds of people in the process which cost taxpayers, businesses and homeowners billions of dollars to rebuild.
Based on our personal experience as California firefighters and due to the increase in fire loss, we have found that property owners would benefit from more knowledge about wildfire behavior, abatement, and mitigation procedures. Many properties in the wildland urban interface (WUI) are old and not up-to-date with the current state building and wildfire codes. These codes and regulations were put in place to give properties a fighting chance in the event of a wildfire. Most property owners aren't aware of how vulnerable their properties are in the event of even the smallest wildfires and how effective safeguarding their property lowers their risk of loss.
The change in climate, fuel moisture, and humidity has increased the frequency and intensity of the recent fires. Years of mismanagement of the forest has led to an abundance of old growth and created heavy fuel loading which contributes to the extension of a wildfire. The increase of homes being built in the high fire risk areas puts thousands of people at risk. And the loss of power in advance, or in the event of a wildfire leaves people and homes vulnerable, while inhibiting suppression and evacuation efforts.
Fireline Defense offers wildfire risk assessment services by experienced professional firefighters to educate the public and property owners regarding wildfire protection and property defense. We have developed the Fireline Defense Index, a rating system based off public codes and regulations, to rate individual properties on their wildfire safety. The Fireline Defense Index was created to ensure that your property is getting the most acceptable level of risk. Our consultants provide our customers with knowledge of wildfire behavior from first hand experience and education while also providing our customers the confidence in knowing that they gave their property the best fighting chance.
The first step in wildfire protection is defensible space which creates a 100 foot fire break between the property and the Fireline. This slows the advance of a wildfires progress giving firefighters valuable time for structure defense and gives them the necessary room to fight. The Fireline Defense Index helps protect properties against direct flame contact, radiant heat, and ember cast as the fire approaches.
After consulting and providing recommendations we can refer you to Fireline's sister company, FortiFire, that specializes in vegetation management, and creation of defensible space and structure defense to ensure your property has the best protection.
Fireline Defense is committed to increasing wildfire safety awareness in our communities and making a legitimate difference in mitigating wildfire loss. Let Fireline Defense assess your property to identify and help with wildfire risk mitigation measures to protect your property.
